About our Accident Only pet cover
Even the best-behaved pets can occasionally find themselves in harm’s way, which is why it’s a good idea to have protection in the event of an unexpected dash to the vet! Accident Only insurance is an affordable way to ensure added peace of mind when accidents happen. Providing specific cover in the case of a sudden, unforeseen, unintended action or event, resulting in harm to your pet, it does not provide coverage for illness or any claims resulting from illness.
How it works
Accident Only cover provides reassurance that should vet treatment be required following your pet’s accident, you’ll be able to claim costs up to the Benefit Limit of £1,000 per condition (less any applicable excess and co-payment amount). Best of all, there is no limit to the number of accidental injuries you can claim for! Providing an active policy is in place at the time of accidental injury, you can claim up to the policy’s benefit limit for each condition up to 365 days after the first symptom and/or clinical sign was noticed, or when treatment started, whichever comes first.
When to buy
If you feel that paying more for comprehensive cover is not practical for you and your pet, either because your budget won’t stretch, or that other plans include benefits you don’t need, then Accident Only is an affordable option that can be purchased at any time. However, you know your pet best and you may want to consider a plan which includes illness, should any future conditions develop.
Making a claim
Simply download a claims form from our website or by logging into your Perfect Pet account. Once returned to us, we will keep you informed of your claim’s progress. If your vet accepts direct payment, we can deposit funds straight into their account, saving you the hassle of having to arrange payment for big vet bills during a stressful time (Subject to claim approval).
Accidents can happen when you least expect them, even on a routine dog walk. There’s only so much protection you can provide as a pet owner - dogs will be dogs, and you want them to be able to live their life to the fullest. We understand that accidents are a part of life for dogs, which is reflected in our affordably priced plans.Learn more about Dog Insurance
Whether you’re insuring a house cat or one that loves to roam outdoors, your feline friend is at risk of the odd accident from time to time. While their inbuilt balancing system, called the “righting reflex”, ensures they often land on their feet, they can still do themselves some damage. We understand that cats are climbers and that accidents can and do happen, and our plans don’t discriminate against clumsy cats!Learn more about Cat Insurance

Things you should know about
Accident Only pet cover
When taking out a Perfect Pet Accident Only policy for the first time, a 5-day waiting period at the start of your policy will apply. After the five days, your policy will become active. Conditions resulting from past accidents will not be included - please bear this in mind.
When you renew your Accident Only pet insurance policy, providing you do not have a break in cover, you will not be subject to any waiting periods and will have continuous cover. We will remind you 21 days before your policy expires. If you agreed to Continuous Payment Authority (CPA), we will renew your policy automatically unless you tell us otherwise.
To help keep premiums competitive for senior pets, when your dog is 8 years or older and a cat 10 years or older, a contribution towards each vet bill is payable, known as a co-payment. The co-payment amount is 15% in addition to any applicable excess, which will be deducted from the policy limit. At 15% our co-payment amount is one of the lowest around!
As this is an Accident Only policy, it only provides cover for veterinary fees resulting from Accidental Injury and does not provide any coverage for illness or any claims resulting from illness. A full list of exclusions can be found in the Insurance Policy Information Document.
